As reported by Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment in 2024, the nation has experienced a significant reduction in mangrove forest coverage—from 3 million hectares to just 1.4 million. This represents a nearly 50% loss and a critical threat to coastal stability, biodiversity, and climate resilience. In response, our organization has launched a comprehensive mangrove restoration initiative, focused on: Rehabilitating degraded coastal areas through the strategic planting of mangrove seedlings. Promoting inclusive participation by facilitating seedling sales, allowing local communities and individuals to contribute directly to the restoration process. Our efforts aim to strengthen ecological resilience while fostering environmental stewardship across Indonesia.

Bendega has successfully planted 416,000 mangrove seedlings, restoring around 58 hectares of degraded coastal areas across Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Java—a significant step toward protecting Indonesia’s coastal ecosystems.
