On December 25, 2021, PT. Jasa Marga Bali Tol and Bendega.id collaborated on a mangrove project to plant 2000 trees. The project aimed to support the ecosystem restoration and preservation of Bali's coastal area. The project location was below Tol Bali Mandara roundabout, where the mangrove trees could absorb pollutants and protect the coastline from erosion.
The mangrove trees that were planted were of two types, Rhizophora Mucronata, and Apiculata. These types of mangroves have a high tolerance for saltwater, making them ideal for coastal areas. The eight-manpower team worked together to plant the mangrove trees. The team prepared the area, dug holes for the trees, planted them, and provided maintenance.
Mangrove trees are essential to coastal ecosystems as they provide several benefits. They help stabilize the coastline by trapping sediments and reducing erosion. They absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, which improves air quality. They provide habitats for various marine animals, such as fish, crabs, and birds. Lastly, mangroves can protect coastal areas from natural disasters, such as tsunamis and storms.
The mangrove project below Tol Bali Mandara roundabout was successful in planting 2000 mangrove trees. This project shows that private companies and non-governmental organizations can collaborate in environmental initiatives. The mangrove trees that were planted will provide several benefits to Bali's coastal area and support the restoration and preservation of the ecosystem. The project also raises awareness about the importance of mangrove conservation and encourages individuals and organizations to take action in environmental initiatives.
