Bendega.id had the pleasure of partnering with KitaBisa.com for a mangrove plantation project in Teluk Pang-pang, Tegalpare, Wringin Putih, Banyuwangi, East Java - Indonesia on Wednesday, January 26, 2023. The project aimed to address the pressing issue of deforestation in the area while providing a sustainable livelihood for the local community.
Our team of 15 workers and volunteers worked tirelessly to plant a total of 3200 Rhizophora Mucronata trees along the coast. The chosen tree species is known for its ability to adapt to a wide range of conditions and can effectively withstand harsh weather and tidal fluctuations. This species is essential for the restoration of degraded mangrove forests as it can quickly establish and develop roots in muddy soils.
The plantation project will provide various benefits for the ecosystem, the local community, and beyond. Mangrove forests serve as a vital habitat for many species, improve water quality, and protect against coastal erosion and storm surges. Moreover, the community will benefit from the mangrove's multiple uses, such as providing a source of food, medicine, and livelihood opportunities. The project will also contribute to carbon sequestration, mitigating the effects of climate change.
Overall, the mangrove plantation project in Teluk Pang-pang was a great success, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our team and the support of KitaBisa.com. We hope this project will inspire others to take action and promote sustainable development in Indonesia and around the world. The trees we planted will undoubtedly grow and thrive, contributing to a healthier environment and a brighter future for generations to come.
